GoldNerds (and friends) are invited to join the GATA meet-ups

Local face-to-face meetings are proving to be a huge success both for socialising and for business. We are even recieving emails from people overseas who are visiting Australian cities and want to join in. These are informal events, no speeches, no fees, just friendly chats and information swapping for serious investors.

NEWS: Sept 22, 2008. Things were quiet over winter, but are warming up again.

In Autumn there were big meets in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. Around 20 people came to each including 4 managing directors (Citigold, Midas, ActivEx, and Silver Lake Resources all sent M.D's). We're considering expanding the informal events to help investors and companies get in touch.

GoldNerds is working to establish a network of savvy gold investors, and people aware of the bigger issues in the global currency and precious metals market. We welcome anyone with a serious stake in the Australian gold market. If you feel the urge to spend an hour meeting and talking with people about the price of gold, the factors affecting it, where the best investments are, how to make money in gold, what it's like to be a lone investor who relies on their own judgement, or any issue connected to the above, especially with an Australian focus, then email us to find out more.

What is GATA ?

GATA (Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee) is a civil rights and educational organization based in the United States. It was created in 1999 to advocate and undertake litigation against illegal collusion to control the price and supply of gold and related financial securities.

GATA has collected a lot of evidence that the western central banks have been managing the price of gold, as part of their campaign of rapidly increasing money supply while keeping inflationary expectations low, that began in about 1995. The monetary authorities have suppressed the price of gold far below what it would be trading at in a free market, mainly by surreptiously leasing out their gold for sale onto to the market and by manipulating the gold derivative markets. GATA estimated a few years ago that the central banks will run out of physical gold to fuel this suppression effort in about 2007. When the suppression effort subsides, the price of gold will presumably rise a lot.
